AVL recently partnered with Michigan Technological University, American Center for Mobility, BorgWarner, Navistar Inc and Traffic Technology Services Inc. for a Connected Cohort Optimization project funded by Department of Energy, EEMS: Energy Efficient Mobility Systems, VTO: Vehicle Technologies Office.
The AVL engineering team collaborated to develop a system for optimizing energy consumption in connected and automated vehicles (CAVs). Leveraging their expertise in system simulation, optimization, and coordination, they created a multi-agent optimization technique that can produce vehicle trajectory profiles in real-time. This approach has the potential to significantly reduce energy consumption and improve the sustainability of transportation systems at various scales.
