We're thrilled to introduce the "Vascular Luminary of the Year" award, honoring a doctor whose work has truly transformed our understanding and treatment of PAD.

This year's recipient is a visionary leader who has galvanized a team of researchers to create groundbreaking evidence on critical aspects of PAD care. His work emphasizes the transformative power of lifestyle modifications, including the important concept of "walking as medicine," which has shown significant benefits in preventing PAD and reducing amputations. Additionally, his research on intravascular ultrasound as an impactful imaging tool has provided new insights, influencing clinical practices and improving patient care around the world.

One of the most powerful pieces of research he worked on helped paint the grim picture of the real cause of the amputation epidemic in this country that's related to PAD, which is the lack of vascular assessment and treatment prior to amputation. That research stands to have a profound impact on policy, which may lead to better PAD care.

Beyond his research, he is a passionate advocate for raising awareness and educating both the medical community and the public about PAD through The Pulse on PAD campaign and other initatives. He also is an incredible mentor for the next generation, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration.

All of the above underscores his dedication to advancing the field and improving patient outcomes.

So... it is with great pleasure that we present the "Vascular Luminary of the Year" award to Interventional Cardiologist Dr. Eric Secemsky.
