Pewter Ring Casting
My son was keen for us to replicate what he's been learning in school, making wooden moulds and casting pewter.
I'm always up for trying any new form of making, so we got some wood, some pewter and a smelting cup.
I didn't film the mould making, because I needed to focus on keeping Henry safe using the power tools (mostly the pillar drill with hole saws, but also the bandsaw).
Here we melt some pewter, setup the moulds and do some pours.
Once it's fully cooled, we extract the ring blanks and trim off the sprues.
I don't know if he will have any enthusiasm for the next steps, but I'm not going to force the issue for now. Better if he self-motivates.
