The Health and Social Care Committee is appointed by the House of Commons to examine the policy, administration and expenditure of the Department of Health and Social Care and its associated bodies.
The House of Commons Liaison Committee is made up of the Chairs of each of the select committees. Part of their role includes taking evidence from the Prime Minister on matters of public policy – which usually takes place three times a year.
