Form is the element of art referring to three-dimensional shapes and fits in well with the order of elements in this curriculum since texture has already been explored.
Teaching children about form while using their prior knowledge of achieving different textures is a nice form with actual 3D materials as well as creating the illusion of form with 2D projects.
For those of you who do not have access to a kiln for clay projects, there are instructions for using air dry clay as an alternative. If creating actual 3D pieces isn’t conductive to your storage situation, this bundle also provides lessons that are 2D and address form through value, adding highlights, shadows, etc.
All grades have a lesson for clay (kiln-fired or air dry) and a paper option to address form with skills that build from one grade level to the next.
