Dawn of hip hop pt 2: Grand Master Flash, Turntablism and the late 70s
In the second part of my exploration of the origins of hip hop I focus on the role of Grand Master Flash, whose youthful experimentation contributed to the rise of turntablism. I also, reluctantly, talk a little bit about Africa Bambaata and his Zulu Nation, and then I close with a little bit about the proliferation of new groups in the late 1970s and the direction things were headed in as the decade ended.
