Pope Francis Rushed to Hospital in Critical Condition
Pope Francis is in the hospital and has been there for over a week. Today, Sunday, February 23rd, he has been diagnosed as being in critical condition. In the Bible, Jesus is called the Chief Shepherd because he has authority over the church and cares for his people. This title appears in 1 Peter 5:4. The Pope is the chief shepherd on earth- of the Catholic Church, and is considered a living symbol of the unity of the global Church. The Pope is also known as the Vicar of Christ. Vicar of Christ is a title used in the Roman Catholic Church to refer to the pope. It signifies the pope's authority to act in the place of Jesus Christ as pastor and to represent him on earth.
