Let's discover a new wad before going back to harder wads...
Preacher is currently a two maps set, with religious theme, created by Darch (well known for his mod "Pirate Doom"), and titled as "a musical CONVERSION".
Not only it is interesting because of these absolutely great songs used in these levels that leaves a perfect, splendid atmosphere (well, the band claims to play "Country Doom" music, eh) which fits perfectly with the "gothic" ambiance of the design, but also because of the gameplay, which I find pretty original. As author says, maps layout is totally non-linear, which means there are tons of ways to complete them. Also, the start teleport trick will teleport you to a random place (well, not really, but you have to know exactly which point of the teleport you need to cross) ; thus, the maps can be done with almost infinite possibilities. It was a very very nice discovering for me.
About the level : Very drab level to start with. Black, white, and gothic. It is of course much more easier than all these Tartarus/Chillax maps, as there're almost no hard monsters (two viles, few arach/hell knights only), but this is how you can learn that few weak enemies like imps/former humans can be dangerous too. Health is what you need to stay looking at, as it can decrease dangerously. Still not a problem as there're lots of medikits/stimpacks scattered around the map. Invul is almost not helpful at all.
It's still a great map in my opinion. Not as exciting as you would want at first, but the theme is truly amazing, and the map transmits it in a perfect way.
The main song is "This World Is Evil" ; title song is "This Is Desperation" ; both by Those Poor Bastards.
About the run : The hardest thing I had to do was to find a proper way, as there're tons of paths possible. Pretty satisfied by the one I found.
