On 3rd March 1996, the Australian collective had the honour and privilege to host Shri Mataji's Mahashivaratri Puja in Sydney.
During Her Puja lecture, Shri Mataji explained whenever we look at anything or a situation, we should divert our attention to the beauty of the situation. She went on say we should put our enlightened attention to the newly elected Prime Minister, John Howard, to give him blessings and better ideas.
A few weeks after this event, a gunman in Tasmania (an island state of Australia) killed 35 people and wounded 23 in the worst mass shooting in Australia's history. Shortly afterwards, John Howard passed national laws to ban rapid-fire guns from civilian ownership. Since then, his actions have been sighted by other countries who are struggling to introduce similar laws to kerb gun violence and mass shootings.
Years later, the former Prime Minister said about the firearms control reforms he led... 'I thought if I couldn't do something, I wasn't up to the job.'
Here is a short extract from Shri Mataji's Puja lecture about attention and "...just watch the man who is elected."
