Today I review soft lighting and a few ways that you can create it in your video. When I first started out as a cameraman I didn't care about what type of light was hitting me subject. I pointed whatever fixture onto my talent and blasted them with lights. Overtime I always wondered what made my lighting better.
Soft lighting can be achieved in unlimited possibilities. We can start by simply softening the light with diffusion sheets, gels, and soft boxes. In future videos we will discuss bounce vs diffusion but today we focus on diffusion.
