HP printer doesn't recognize cartridge?
"The specified cartridges have been detected as modified or counterfeit." Error message: DO NOT buy HP OfficeJet Pro if you want to print with alternative cartridges! Here's why! You'll get the HP error message: "Firmware blocked printer cartridge. Other manufacturer's chip detected" if you haven't deactivated the automatic update function on your HP OfficeJet Pro printer, thus allowing the printer to download data from the internet. After the automatic update, the error message appears: "The specified printer cartridges have been blocked by the printer's firmware."
HP took a similar approach with the previous generation; the error message just had a different text back then. Now, at least, it's clearer why the error occurs.
