Rwandan women performing Burundian traditional rhythm
As we celebrate women's day , Rural women from Rwinkwavu sector in Kayonza district in Eastern province of Rwanda, perform Burundian traditional rhythm. Culturally it was forbidden to women to drum , they said it would bring a curse but now things have changed. Rwandan government has put a lot of efforts to promote gender balance and to overcome all barriers which girls and women have been facing in order to develop. The drums are used as voices for speechless rural women.
