Presocratics: Historical and geographical background
This tutorial gives some historical and geographical background on Presocratic Philosophy. I make a timeline with the general historical periods and show where (Ancient Philosophy and) Presocratic Philosophy begins and ends. I also draw a map of the places in the Mediterranean Basin in which Presocratic Philosophers lived: This enables us to understand what philosophers mean by the "Ionian", "Italiote", "Milesian" and "Eleatic" schools in philosophy.
