Eight Sleep offers smart all-foam mattresses. The company’s current selection includes the following two models:
The Smart Bed (formerly known as the Jupiter) is constructed with a memory foam comfort layer, a polyfoam transitional layer, and a high-density polyfoam support core. The Smart Bed’s cover is engineered with built-in sensors that coordinate the smart technology. Using a compatible wireless app, owners can use the sensors to track more than a dozen sleep metrics, such as REM/deep sleep cycles, heart rate, and respiratory rate. The cover also has heating options for both sides of the bed and features a smart alarm that wakes sleepers up during periods of light sleep, resulting in more alertness. The Smart Bed measures 10″ thick; in terms of firmness it is considered ‘Medium Firm,’ or a 6.5 on the 1-10 scale.
The Pod, Eight Sleep’s newest mattress, uses similar smart technology as the Smart Bed. the Pod is constructed with polyfoam and memory foam comfort layers, a polyfoam transitional layer, and a high-density polyfoam support core. The Active Grid layer (positioned above the comfort system) is connected to the Hub, which is located next to the mattress base and controls different settings. Owners can program the temperatures for each side of the bed; the estimated range is 55° to 115° Fahrenheit (12° to 46° Celsius). Sleepers can also track sleep data with the Eight Sleep app using the Active Grid’s built-in sensors. The Pod is considered ‘Medium’ (5.5) in terms of firmness.
Please note: Eight Sleep no longer offers the Mars or Saturn mattresses, though they still may be purchased through third-party retailers.
The most notable advantage of Eight Sleep mattresses is the smart technology component. Thanks to their built-in sensors, the Smart Bed and Pod mattresses allow owners to optimize the temperature of their sleep environment and track critical metrics for sleep quality and duration.
