However, if outside air is structurally impractical for a clinic-level medical institution, this requirement does not apply. Furthermore, a laminar flow ventilation system is stipulated to provide one-way air supply from the top of the operating table downward. Furthermore, exhaust outlets must be installed at least two, far apart, at the bottom of the wall at least 200 mm above the floor. Positive pressure must be applied to provide protection for corridors and surrounding rooms. All supplied air must pass through an air purification filter. In principle, indoor recirculating air conditioners cannot be used, but they can be installed at the supply outlets. Indoor recirculating air conditioners can be used if they use a MERV14 or higher filter. Furthermore, regular maintenance of air purification equipment, including filter replacement, is required. Contrary to the Enforcement Regulations of the Medical Service Act, handwashing facilities and sinks are prohibited in operating rooms.
