Microwaves and Radio waves are both frequencies on the electromagnetic spectrum.
Radio Frequencies, or RF, range from 3 KiloHertz (kHz) to 300 GigaHertz (GHz).
Microwaves start at 300 thousand kHz and go up to 300 GHz.
While radio waves begin at a lower frequency, both reach 300 Gigahertz on the spectrum.
So where does a WiFi signal fit in?
WiFi transmits and receives information between your electronic device and your router to connect to the internet.
A WiFi signal from your device uses 2.4 GHz, or 5.8 GHz for higher speeds, which both fall within the microwave and radio wave frequency range.
As a point of reference, your microwave oven cooks food at 2.3 GHz. While this is slightly lower than a WiFi signal, your microwave oven uses a higher power wattage.
However, exposure to WiFi radiation can still be harmful over a long period time.
Just like you wouldn’t stand next to your microwave while it cooks food, you should stay at a safe distance from your WiFi router.
Keep your WiFi Router at least 10 feet away or use an Ethernet cord to eliminate WiFi altogether!
