How an ESD trip is initiated and executed in Control station is discussed in this video. Basically, ESD (Emergency Shut Down System) is an emergency control system used to manage the start and stop sequences of a plant or machine. The ESD is one of the main safety systems in plant engineering and complex industrial applications.The Safety Instrument System (SIS) or a Hardwired systems normally initiate trips, however the PLCs or DCS may also initiate trips.
