We know it can get pricey if you have to replace a smart phone. But here is some interesting information. A survey conducted by Consumer Reports found that only 15 percent of those polled bought a new phone because the old one broke, and only 2 percent bought a new one because their phone was lost or stolen.
Insurance plans cost $5-$10 a month and come with deductibles ranging from $50-$100. Even then, they might only repair your phone or offer you a refurbished phone rather than a new one. So do the math and think twice about whether insurance for your phone is needed. The most cost effective option is to use an old phone or borrow one from a friend, until your contract ends.
