I want to start with that first reading because the first reading really points to something beautiful. There is David and he comes to a realization, here I’m in a beautiful palace and God is out in a tent. So he wanted to go and build God a house but God came to him and said, wait, wait, wait, just hold on I’m the one who led you to where you are. I’m the one who protects you. I’m the one who watches over you I’m the one who takes care of you. You don't need to take care of me. But you know something? I can think about how David would feel because anytime we're in a situation and we know that there's someone in need and knowing that this is God, living in a tent, you would want to say no! I want to give God the best! And yet God surprises us by coming back and saying no, I'll take care of you. You don't have to worry about me. And you something? It's beautiful because even Mary is surprised wait a minute? God is going to dwell in me? How is this to happen? And you know something? God comes to us in so many different ways and as we're preparing for Christmas, the expectation the excitement of growing closer to Christmas always brings an excitement but also unexpected hopes, unexpected dreams, unexpected situations can pop up and not only negative. Sometimes very positive. Even upon the birth of a baby when all of a sudden you find out that a relative or a friend or someone is pregnant and you go oh my goodness are we excited! We have a new member to add to our family. The excitement grows. And here even in Mary's moment of saying, ok I’m a bit surprised, she still embraces it and she takes on the in dwelling of God as we celebrate this 4th Sunday of Advent, I want you to think about that. Taking in all that God is offering us. And God offered a lot to David. He reminded David, wait a minute, it is I the one who will take care of you and you know even in the midst of our situation today, God is taking care of each and every one of us. But we need to make that open, that openness to have God dwell in us, in our families, in our situations of welcoming those around us of giving great greetings of joy of recognizing people who are in need and reaching out and touching their lives. That's when we allow God's presence to really dwell within us. So on this 4th Sunday of advent don't be afraid. Just as Mary said yes and you know there was David and he wanted so badly to take care of God and have God dwell in a much nicer palace or a much nicer place than what a tent would provide. We need to feel the same way. I want God to come into my life. I want God to dwell within me. I want God to be so much a part of my life and then to share that. That's what Mary did. She allowed Jesus the son of God to dwell within her and then on Christmas she shared this beautiful gift with each and every one of us. We are called to share that gift as we prepare our hearts for the coming of Christmas, allow the in dwelling of God to take hold. Allow that joy, that expectation, that excitement to touch the lives of those around us as we grow closer to that very special day of Christmas let us now profess our faith.
