Introduction:
Solving trigonometric equations is essential in AS-Level Mathematics, yet students frequently struggle with correctly identifying solutions and applying trigonometric identities. Progression in Difficulty:
The first and second questions introduce basic equation-solving, involving a single trigonometric term where students identify angles within a specific range. The third question introduces the use of the tan identity to solve equations where both sine and cosine are present, emphasizing the connection between these functions. The fourth question escalates the difficulty by introducing a quadratic trigonometric equation, where students must find both positive and negative solutions, focusing on algebraic manipulation and understanding the range of solutions for \tan^2 \theta .
