Design and Development of a Temperature Data Logger at Smart and Cyber-Physical Sytems Laboratory, Ecole Centrale School of Engineering, Mahindra University, Hyderabad

Temperature data loggers are essential tools used across various industries to monitor and record temperature over time. They are crucial in environments where precise temperature control is necessary, such as in laboratories, storage facilities, and manufacturing processes. At the Ecole Centrale School of Engineering, Mahindra University, Hyderabad, a comprehensive project was undertaken to design and develop a temperature data logger that could serve both educational and practical purposes.
Objectives were:
1. To design a reliable and accurate temperature data logger that could monitor and record temperature over an extended period.
2. To develop a user-friendly interface, that allows students and researchers to easily access and analyze the recorded data.
3. To ensure low power consumption, so that the device can operate autonomously for long durations.
4. To integrate the system with wireless communication capabilities, enabling remote monitoring and data retrieval.

The STM32 microcontroller was programmed with a custom-written code to handle data acquisition, storage, and communication.
The code included features such as error handling, data logging intervals, and power management routines.

The final product was a reliable, portable, and user-friendly temperature data logger capable of autonomous operation over extended periods. It has several potential applications:

1. Educational Tool: The data logger serves as an excellent educational tool for students learning about embedded systems, sensors, and data logging. It provides hands-on experience with real-world applications of temperature monitoring.

2. Laboratory and Research Applications: The device can be used in laboratory settings to monitor environmental conditions, ensuring that experiments are conducted under controlled temperatures.

3. Industrial Monitoring: With further enhancements, the data logger could be adapted for use in industrial environments where continuous temperature monitoring is critical.
