When I was 10, I watched "The Nightmare Before Christmas" on VHS everyday until the tape wore out, right around the spot where Oogie Boogie starts to lose his bugs the tape went all psychedelic and I had to carefully fish it out of the VCR... Danny Elfman's score had a huge influence on me
I got the score and set out to recreate this in Logic using Spitfire Audio sample libraries, the backbone pulse was built using "Symphonic Motions" the bigger ensemble bits used the Abbey Road library, especially the "legendary lows" patch for that super low bass. Individual parts used the BBC SO Professional library, except for the Timpani which came from the Joby Burgess Percussion library.
