Hi Everyone

Below is a more detailed and in depth explanation of how these watches function to clear up any confusion or questions you might have.

In this video i strictly focused on trying to be simple and as basic as possible explaining the differences between a Quartz, Digital, Manual and Automatic Watches without getting too much in depth into the art of watchmaking.

Mechanical Watches (Automatic & Manual)

A mechanical watch is driven by a mainspring which must be wound either periodically by hand or via a self-winding mechanism. Its force is transmitted through a series of gears to power the balance wheel, a weighted wheel which oscillates back and forth at a constant rate. A device called an escapement releases the watch's wheels to move forward a small amount with each swing of the balance wheel, moving the watch's hands forward at a constant rate. The escapement is what makes the 'ticking' sound which is heard in an operating mechanical watch.

Quartz Watches

Quartz clocks and quartz watches are timepieces that use an electronic oscillator regulated by a quartz crystal to keep time. This crystal oscillator creates a signal with very precise frequency, so that quartz clocks and watches are at least an order of magnitude more accurate than mechanical clocks. Generally, some form of digital logic counts the cycles of this signal and provides a numerical time display, usually in units of hours, minutes, and seconds.

Digital Watches

A digital watch displays the time digitally (i.e. in numerals or other symbols), as opposed to an analogue clock. Digital watches are often associated with electronic drives, but the "digital" description refers only to the display, not to the drive mechanism.

I would also like to thank all of my SUBSCRIBERS for their continuous support on this channel and for helping me grow in this hobby, your feedback and your knowledge is greatly appreciated.
