Capoeira is a story of triumph and freedom, believed to have originated in the 16th century in Brazil. This unconventional martial art is a combination of fighting techniques blended with acrobatic dance and rhythm. The result is a magnetic art based on complex movements using mainly speed, power and leverage for a wide variety of kicks, spins that are as deadly as they are beautiful. Capoeira is a dialog - a conversation through movement which can take on many shades of meaning.
Through the lens of Enrique Villaluenga, The Kooples pays a tribute to this art with a poetic choreography created and performed by Bamba Niang & Elea Germain-Phion, wearing the Shared Wardrobe capsule collection Tina for Vincent, co-designed with Tina Kunakey.
