About the film: Based on A. Aleksin's novella "The Day Before Yesterday and the Day After Tomorrow." Misha Kutusov dreams of becoming a clown when he grows up, but for now, he auditions for a children's choir. He fails the vocal test, but the director likes his recitation skills, and he is appointed "announcer"—as choir director Viktor Makarovich calls this position. Viktor Makarovich, a singing teacher, is no longer young. He devoted the best years of his life to working at the school, his beloved work—instilling in children a love of music and an appreciation for beauty. Viktor Makarovich has no family, but he is not alone—his students remember and love him. His choir doesn't just learn to sing—the boys know they are at home in the choir and are always welcome. However, with each passing day, the teacher finds it increasingly difficult to lead the choir; age is taking its toll. And so, the heartless director of the House of Culture decides to retire him, replacing him with a young and heartless functionary. During these difficult times for Viktor Makarovich, Misha Kutusov's affection for him becomes especially evident. Trying to help his beloved teacher, he organizes a rebellion to disrupt the debut of the choir's new director. The friendship between the old man and the boy, and Misha's attempt to help the teacher, form the plot of the film.
