Facebow is a caliper-like instrument used to record the spatial relationship of the maxillary arch to some anatomic reference point/points and then transfer this relationship to an articulator; it orients the dental cast in the same relationship to the opening axis of the articulator.

It is of two types -
1. Arbitrary Facebow
2. Kinematic/ Hinge Facebow

Parts of a Facebow are -
1. U-shaped frame
2. Condylar rods
3. Bite fork
4. Locking devices
5. Orbital pointer pin
