Chalk Art on Sidewalk - By Artist, Andrea Kirk | The Art Chik
I was asked to be the featured artist and demonstrate chalk art at a local “Chalk the Walk” event. To be honest, I hadn’t done chalk art since I was a kid! So, I went out in my front yard with my girls, and spent the day creating a sea turtle on the sidewalk to practice. I used beautiful chalk pastels for deeper color and contrast. I had so much fun, and definitely felt better prepared after I was done. At the event, I was given an asphalt surface to work on, but honestly, I love how much better the second sea turtle turned out against the darker surface. I time lapsed the process for my viewers (7 hours of work condensed into less than 2 minutes), because who doesn’t love a cool chalk art demo!
