What effects does LSD have on our body and mind?
We discuss it in this video.
LSD, also known as "acid," is a psychedelic substance that causes hallucinations, but how does it work? What effects does LSD have on the brain? Let's find out together in the ninth video of our #fisiologicamenteparlando series.
LSD is known in slang as acid, trip, and cardboard, and is, relative to its weight, one of the most powerful narcotics known. Some tests have determined that LSD is 100 times more potent than psilocybin, which we discussed in the video on magic mushrooms:

LSD has various effects on the body and causes: pupil dilation, loss of awareness and psychophysical clarity, uterine contractions, elevated blood sugar levels, dry mouth, different body temperature sensations, increased heart rate, heavy sweating, and insomnia.
Psychological effects vary greatly depending on the dose, location, and psychological state at the time of use. They mainly consist of altered consciousness, euphoria, loss of awareness and clarity, reduced psychophysical reflexes, alterations in short- and long-term memory, a feeling of intense bliss, and heightened emotions. Furthermore, a dissolution of the ego occurs, resulting in a sense of unity with the surrounding environment and a heightened perception of sounds, colors, smells, and tastes. These sensations can, in some cases, cause anxiety due to their powerful emotional impact. These intense emotional experiences, like traumatic or emotionally charged experiences, can cause long-term psychological symptoms, which can lead to "flashback" phenomena in some individuals. In some individuals, especially those who have used psychedelics for long periods of time and at high doses, flashbacks can become chronic and may be associated with characteristic perceptual disorders such as visual disturbances, giving rise to a specific psychiatric disorder called hallucinogen-induced persistent perception disorder (HPPD).
