The unprecedented Russian aggression in Ukraine since February 2022 has intensified the discourse surrounding the necessity to bolster resilience against influence of non-democratic regimes. It has prompted many states to reassess their relations with Moscow. Although the European Union (EU) has already agreed on 11 packages of sanctions against Russia, challenges arise in the implementation of these sanctions by individual Member States. What have we learnt from the sanctions implementation so far? How to effectively target financial sanctions against people, who are responsible for aggression in Ukraine? Can we make sanctions even more effective?
The 27th annual Forum 2000 Conference, titled “For a Democratic World Order”, was held in Prague on October 15–17, 2023.
