So EMG say it should be a simple replacement for their DG20 into a Stratocaster. Alas it seems the neck end is different on this cheapest Harley Benton ST20. I show you how I transferred the components to the existing pickguard. I make the hindsight observation I could have filed the guard BUT since I didnt know how it would sound in the HB I didnt want to damage the original pickguard. I love the tone of the new pickups - they are a keeper - so for sure I would trace out a profile and mod the original pickguard.

I will post the initial sounds demo later. For the moment this video takes you thru the installation along with decision points, rationale behind my choices (please comment on better ways) and I took the opportunity to float the trem and make some comments about the nut/string trees. I have some Tusq but/trees on order. For sure the stock ones are not up to the job.

Just some string height and intonation left. I dont think I will get a higher mass tremolo block. All in all a decent sounding and playable Strat for less than a 2nd hand MiM.

I really love these pickups - they are a keeper and I am thinking of getting another set for the SX SST57 - and I have to say I do prefer that guitar. There again the CAR is just amazing finish for £70 + shipping.

The stock pickups in the HB are ok. If you add an FX pedal then you almost certainly dont need these EMG pickups. I am fortunate that I can experiment and setup guitars how I want them - and this video is to assist anyone who is thinking of going down this route - it might help you to decide to do it - or to buy a decent amp and modelling pedal.

In the room, thru the valve amp, they feel and sound great. Only sorry the in-room mic doesnt do it just - more in later video.

Thanks for watching.
