"Blood ties "is a novela that depicts stories of family disputes. Two sisters, Inês (Diana Chaves) and Diana (Joana Santos) are separated during childhood in an accident, living different lives, become enemies later on, when their paths cross again.
Diana, the villain of the novela, grew up in a poor and humble family, but is a very ambitious woman. Later on, she discovers her real family and realizes that she could have had a much better life and decides to get revenge. She will everything to be successful, regardless of the means used to reach her goals.
Inês is a strong woman, full of life, who thinks a lot about the future and her family. She is engaged to João (Diogo Morgado-actor of internationally award-winning series "the Bible"), whom she loves deeply and plans to start a family. But this relationship is going to be the victim of many setbacks. Inês hides big and terrible secrets that will question her honesty.
João, Inês' groom, is a kind man who likes to help others. He is a doctor who often goes on humanitarian missions.
The 39th Edition of the international Emmys, distinguished by the International Academy of television arts and Sciences of the United States, awarded "Blood Ties" with the Emmy for the Best Telenovela. "Blood Ties", a co-production of SIC and TV Globo, competed with "Destiny River", TV Globo, "Contra las Cuerdas", Argentina's public television, and "Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Impostor", from the Philippines.
