Skyforger - Svētās vedības (Folk dance)
We are happy to present you freshly invented Latvian traditional dance "Svētās vedības" (in English - Holy wedding), which is based on music of SKYFORGER's song "Migla migla, rasa rasa" from our folk music album "Zobena dziesma", 2003
Choreography and whole idea by Dzintars Kaksis.
Dance is performed by Latvian traditional dance group "Bandava" from Saldus, Latvia. Suitable only for eight dancing pairs.
Milzīgs paldies par šo deju tās autoram Dzintaram Kaksim un izpildītājiem no Saldus Kultūras centra vidējās paaudzes deju kopai "Bandava"! Ikviens kam patīk "Svētās vedības" tiek laipni aicināts mācīties to dejot un popularizēt.
This is a folk tale telling of a wonder as a man comes
across the wedding of the Moon (Mēness) with the daughter
of the Sun (Saule) and he is allowed to behold this event...

OH FOG, OH DEW (HOLY WEDDING)
Migla migla, rasa rasa / Oh fog, oh dew
Tās man labu nedarīj' / Neither one was good for me
Rasā manas kājas mirka / The dew dampened my feet
Miglā nozūd kumeliņš / The fog made me lose my steed
Nokrīt migla, nokrīt rasa / The fog lifted, the dew lifted
Atrod savu kumeliņ' / I found my horse
Atrod savu kumeliņu / I found my horse
Pie Mēneša namdurvīm / At the Mēness's doorstep
Mēness ņēma Saules meitu / Mēness took the daughter of Saule
Aicin' mani vedībās / And invited me to a wedding
Kā es jāšu vedībās / How can I ride to a wedding
Nesedlotu kumeliņ' / On a horse without saddle?
Saule deva zelta sedlus / The Saule gave me a golden saddle
Mēness sudrab' iemauktiņus / The Mēness - a silver bridle
Nu es varu droši jāti / Now I can boldly ride
Dieva dēlu pulciņā / Together with the sons of Dievs
Krustiem auga kokiem saknes / Crosswise grow the roots of trees
Krustiem zvaigznes debesīs / Crosswise stars shine in the sky
Sāniem jāja Dieva dēli / The sons of Dievs ride next to me
Krustiem teka kumeliņ' / Crosswise galloping our horses
