Here's a fun little project for you all! https://goo.gl/MBLLh7 I made this as a Christmas gift for a friend but due to being busy with a new job(installing robots) I have not gotten it edited and uploaded until now. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and happy New Year!

You should totally make one of these! They are so easy to make. I made this in less than an hour with simple tools at my local makerspace, HackPGH. You could probably make due with a battery drill instead of a drill press and a miter box and hand saw instead of a tablesaw. The wood I used is a piece of Black Locust off the firewood pile but you could use anything. Black Locust is a really beautiful wood. It is super hard and takes a fantastic shine when sanded a little. I also made an oak box but the Black Locust looked so much better, in my opinion. Just a lot more character to the wood grain and the weathered outside. The 1/8 inch brass rod can be bought at most hardware stores or ordered on Amazon. I finished it with Teak Oil which I love because it soaks in and drys so it's not sticky or oily, if done properly(excess must be wiped off after 15 min). You could use a bigger or smaller forstner bit as well. Just go with whatever seems right for the piece of wood you have. Be sure to not make the walls too thin or it'll split apart when boring. An idea a friend had was to add a magnet to keep it closed. I didn't have any magnets of the right size at the time of making the video so I didn't do this but I think it would be really cool.(Thanks for the idea Dave!)
