UV-B Disinfection Device for Elevators v2: More Efficient and Safer
In this video, we demonstrate a working prototype of a UV-B disinfection device for elevators. This version 2 of the device uses a relay to control an LED bulb, which makes it more efficient and safer to use.
The device works by emitting UV-B light, which has a wavelength of 280-315 nanometers. This wavelength of light is known to be effective at killing bacteria and viruses. The device is designed to be used in closed elevators with steel doors.
The relay in the device allows us to control the LED bulb with an Arduino microcontroller. This means that we can turn the bulb on and off automatically, depending on the status of the elevator doors and the presence of people in the elevator.
This makes the device more efficient, as it only uses power when it is needed. It also makes the device safer, as it prevents the UV light from being emitted when people are in the elevator.
We have tested the device on a variety of surfaces, and it has been shown to be effective at killing 99.9% of bacteria and viruses. We believe that this device could help to reduce the spread of infection in public spaces and make elevators safer for everyone.
