This is a touching film about the war. It is impossible to watch the suffering and death of the unfortunate Soviet anti-aircraft gunners without tears. And the suffering of Soviet women in a Karelian village, even with tears in their eyes, is hard to call truth. In order to make a film about Karelia, you need to know Karelia. Let me remind you: from 1931 to 1933, the White Sea-Baltic Canal was built in this area. This shipping structure was dug by prisoners of the BelBaltLag. In those years, all residents of the Soviet Union were considered prisoners, and especially the population from nearby villages and towns. The population density of Karelia is still half that of Siberia. It is unrealistic to gather so many women and children in a Karelian village, even with cries of “Return victorious.”
