Водопад Сан-Жулиан
Португалия не туристическая страна. Здесь невозможно быть туристом. Достопримечательности здесь везде. Ели вы здесь живёте - вы турист по определению. Если вы сюда приехали на недельку-другую - вы не увидите и малой части того, что привлекает людей всего мира. Эта древняя страна напичкана стариной разного происхождения. И я сейчас говорю не только о музеях.
Перед нами водопад Сан-Жулиан. Мы сюда ехали за природной красотой. И мы её получили. Но меня поразило то, что и здесь - возле самого водопада - есть остатки старинных построек. Сначала я подумал, что это развалины какой-то мельницы. Но присмотревшись, я понял, что это скорее всего остатки опоры старинного моста. Логично: сюда ведёт дорога, есть остатки каких-то стен и фундаментов.

Portugal is not a tourist country. It is impossible to be a tourist here. There are attractions everywhere. If you live here, you are a tourist by definition. If you come here for a week or two, you will not see even a small part of what attracts people from all over the world. This ancient country is stuffed with antiquities of various origins. And I am not only talking about museums now.
In front of us is the San Julian waterfall. We came here for natural beauty. And we got it. But I was struck by the fact that here, next to the waterfall itself, there are remains of ancient buildings. At first I thought that these were the ruins of some mill. But after looking closely, I realized that these were most likely the remains of the support of an ancient bridge. It makes sense: a road leads here, there are remains of some walls and foundations.
