In this shooting workout, my main focus with Tye was to build his base and balance. While our first thought may be to watch the release, we should be watching from the waist down. The release is a result of what happens below the waist.

We begin our shooting workout with spin outs. I've written two articles for Basketball For Coaches (https://www.basketballforcoaches.com/...) on the importance of the spin out series. I want my players to attack the ball and dominate their approach. I want their feet to dig into the court, not glide across the court. I want them to hold in their stance for a count of two so they can maintain their balance, without falling one way or the other. I emphasize sitting down in a stance, hips dropped, chest up and chin on the rim. We then talk about the release, snagging our wrist and finishing five fingers through the rim.

Make sure to like and subscribe for more player development and offensive breakdowns. What are the top 2-3 things you look for in shooting development? Drop a comment and let me know!
