Celebrating Pacific Islanders- Polynesian Dancing from Samoa
While some assume the term ‘Pacific Islander’ refers to individuals from the island of Hawaii, the reality is that it encompasses a wide range of Indigenous people from a vast array of regions in the South Pacific. As we celebrate Pacific Islanders in the month of May, we take you to the region of Samoa in Polynesia where we learn the basics of the cultural dance, the Siva Samoa. Polynesian dance group, Tausala, teaches us the language of storytelling through movement.
