In this third chapter of our journey through the Holy Land, we arrive at the church of the wedding at Cana.
Here, where, according to the Gospel, Jesus performed his first miracle—the transformation of water into wine—eight couples renewed their wedding vows. It was an intimate and deeply moving moment, in which human love met divine grace.
We walked through the town of Cana, trying to imagine that banquet of two thousand years ago. We entered the church, prayed, and were able to see up close a stone jar of about 100 liters, similar to those that could have held the water turned into wine.
More than a historical episode, Cana remains a sign of hope and joy for the couple, and of the living presence of Jesus in their everyday lives.
