Kevin Marcel, a native American, used to pick berries, fish and hunt with his father just outside of Fort McMurray, Alberta, the de facto capital of Alberta's tar sands. Now he works in the mines there, carving up the same land. He's conflicted. There are few options if hes' going to continue living in his ancestral home, Fort Chipewayan, 140 miles north of For McMurray. There are few other ways to make money to support his family.
