Welcome back! In this video, I’m kicking off a 30-day challenge using Fedora Linux 42 KDE Edition as my daily driver — specifically for content creation and gaming.
After running into recurring issues with DaVinci Resolve on Arch-based distros, especially related to AUR timeouts, I decided it was time for a change. Fedora’s stability, ease of setup, and strong support for RDNA3 GPUs (like my RX 7900 GRE) made it the perfect candidate.
I’ll be documenting my Fedora journey over the next month with weekly (or more frequent) updates. I also share a bit about my Linux history — from SUSE 9.2 in 2004 to Ubuntu and Arch, and why Fedora feels like coming home again.
What’s in this video:
Why Arch Linux wasn’t cutting it for DaVinci Resolve
My experience installing and configuring Fedora 42 KDE
Using DaVinci Resolve Studio with AMD GPU hardware encoding
Using Flatpaks, OBS, GIMP 3.0, Chrome, and more
Preview of future gaming and content creation workflows
Drop a comment if there's anything specific you'd like to see during this 30-day Fedora test. And don’t forget to like, subscribe, and hit that bell if you're into Linux, creative workflows, or both!
