This is an excerpt in a series of videos I am releasing where I recorded myself while I went through the rigging process on this Ballrio character rig for the Animation Help Discord server. This is not intended to be a tutorial per say, but more of an over-the-shoulder view of what I do to get through a character rig in Autodesk Maya. This character in particular had a few fun little gimmicks added to it such as squash and stretch on the ball-like body, and then stretchy IK legs.
I start of the process by using some custom scripts along with scripts I have accumulated from various rigging courses. I still use some of the scripts that I got through the Animator-Friendly-Rigging program I took from Jason Schliefer. Anyway, on about Part 09 of this series I decide to scratch the whole stretchy leg system that I built using scripts, and I delete all of that and start over from scratch. It is a bit of re-work, but it ends up functioning exactly how I had envisioned it originally.
So, as you can see, where much of this could be pretty informative and used like a tutorial, the main purpose of this is rather to give you a look into my troubleshooting process. Later I may actually release a more organized step by step guide to recreating this same type of rig, but I find value in releasing this as is for now.
The lattice-based squash and stretch on the body takes me way longer than it needed to, haha. So, I am going to include everything. Hopefully someone finds value in this.
