Guaranteeing Students an Unbeatable Advantage with Global Work Experience - VI X Botho University
We partnered with Botho University, Botswana, to enable their students to secure the work experience placements they needed to enter the world of employment. The university faced several challenges when trying to place their students in global placements, and decided they needed to pivot.
By partnering with Virtual Internships, Botho University guaranteed their students, who had previously faced barriers, global internships to boost their employability and prove their value to companies worldwide, working remotely from Botswana.
Students interned remotely and gained invaluable international work experience, career coaching, and professional development upskilling - all in exchange for academic credit.
At least 50% of the students received an extension for their internship
Students expanded hard and soft skills; critical thinking skills, collaboration/team skills, and learned new technology
Two students in the first cohort (of 10) were offered full-time paid employment positions with their host companies.
Following the success of the pilot program, Botho University opened the opportunity for every student to gain international work experience through Virtual Internships.
