Alex Puccio, from ROAP Coaching, climbs the Hatchet V12, in St Vrain, Colorado in quick style - sharing 3 quick tips to help you be more successful with your projecting on rock too.
1. Create accurate tick marks! Alex typically uses pointer/index finger tick marks, making an exact position so she can be accurate, efficient and cut the guess work out of the climbing.
2. Alex works sections. She will try to flash something if she is confident, otherwise, she will use her energy wisely and break the climb down into sections or even moves. Then, if it is harder, will link moves/sections together. If it is not as hard for her, like this climb, she will link a couple of the sections together and then start making attempts from the bottom.
3. Pad well! Alex has had knee operations from falls indoors on big pads. We see so many climbers put pads down with no care about gaps or uneven surfaces. Pad well, make sure there are no gaps and be confident about your landing.
4. The hidden 4th and 5th tips are to have fun and try hard!
See you out there!
