Professor Kizomba
As a teenager growing up in (Sorocaba) Sao Paulo, Kizomba was always getting into fights, so one day his grandmother sent him off to capoeira lessons. That was in 1989 at the academy of Mestre Pedro Feitoso, Associação de Capoeira Liberdade. He trained five days a week under the guidance of his master and learned techniques in regional, benguela, angola as well as the becoming an accomplished musician.
Seven years later, in 1996, Kizomba achieved the graduation of Monitor. He began giving lessons in capoeira in his hometown and at the same time completed his formal education. He began travelling extensively to events across the country to represent his group.
In 1998, Kizomba undertook a social project for children and adolescents with learning difficulties in Sorocaba.
Kizomba participated in the organsiation of Capoeira Day, a highly successful initiative held on 20 November each year.
At age 27, in 2000, Kizomba received the graduation of Professor.
Professor Kizomba first came to the Netherlands in spring 2003. In November that year he began a project with capoeira in Almere, establishing the first capoeira group in the town.
