Carmen Castillo 2024 Scholarship Gala Message
Carmen Castillo is a junior at the College, majoring in Biomedical Science with minors in Spanish, Pre-Nursing, and Psychology & Health. She is also a member of the Pre-Health Club.
Carmen is the daughter of Rafael and Janice Castillo and grew up in tiny Garden Valley, Idaho, which is about a 45-minute drive north of Boise and has a population of less than 500 people. In addition to being a solid student through all of her years in the Garden Valley schools, she was a member of the Wolverine basketball team, the drum corps and the National Honor Society while in high school. Her 2021 high school graduating class had only 21 students and each of them attained a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Carmen was the valedictorian of her class and has always wanted to pursue a healthcare career.
Carmen is the oldest of the six Castillo children and the first in her family to attend the College. Her siblings are Jordan, Gracie, Leila, Mercedes and Samson. Her sister Gracie is in her first year at The College of Idaho.
