Crockpot Nanocoating Mystery
When this crack occurred, I was mostly concerned with the Miss's that would be back in 3 days. She would not be happy.
Perhaps a rock fell... From out of the sky! (we have no mountains in Florida) maybe an acorn from a squirrel? Ah lightning...No I was here and no thunder...
It's been several months past that event now and was discussing this with Zane today...
To be very clear, I have set this crockpot outside on top of the glass top table and nanocoated many batches of copper in the past.
My caustic solution was mostly NaOH, some KOH, a handful of the cypress leaf and sage ash from the prior nights fire, spoonful of diatamaceous earth, 2 coke bottle threads and maybe a little too much aluminum... Like about 15 small to medium balls. I sprayed caustic on All the items in the pot to ensure a good nanocoating. Closed the lid, turned it on high and went to bed.
In the morning I could see beautiful deep black nano coating through the glass lid, so I turned it off with the lid on to allow for a slow cool down.
3 hours later I return to unload the crock pot and discovered this huge rift in the glass top table.
The video is attempting to show the melt point inside the glass. It did not melt the top not the bottom of the glass. Neither was the crockpot itself damaged. Not the rubber feet. Not the aluminum housing not even the glass top lid of the crock pot.
The melt point was about 7 inches from the left side of the crock pot towards the edge of the table. Hopefully the video shows this well. I will try to get a better up close snapshot of this piece of internal melted glass for the record. So the question remains, how did this crockpot solution melt the inside portion of the 1 inch thick piece of glass 7 inches away from the crockpot without also damaging the crockpot itself?
