In this video, I explain the steps of IVF/ICSI and the difference between IVF and ICSI.
In conventional IVF, the biologist places the sperm in contact with the egg, and fertilization occurs naturally. In contrast, during ICSI, the biologist injects a single sperm directly into the egg to induce fertilization.
In cases where the sperm count is insufficient and/or motility is low, intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) is used to prevent fertilization failure. This involves selecting a high-quality sperm (from an ejaculate or a testicle) and injecting it directly into the egg using a pipette.
The choice between IVF and ICSI will be discussed with you during your consultation, based on the results of your tests.
