In this tutorial, i'm making simulation, on how to make flares in Video Sequence Editor.
This method gives us ability to do even more complicated simulation, but that is if we only have patience.
It's a quick solution to add flares, in-between, in front, or behind the elements, or objects. And, there is possibility to make them even more interesting, on the almost same level as particles are.
To achieve this effects, i used only one mask, and variations of that strip with Transform strip. Quite easy, but, there is a problem if Gaussian Blur effect is added to much, on a multiple strips. That could slow down the rendering process, and for that too, there is a solution, proxy scaling does the job, but with one major thing in mind, it doesn't look the same as in final render, so that should checked more often.
Again, it took a bit longer to record, but it's a fairly quick process.
If anything appears to be confusing, fill free to ask.

I hope you'll find this tutorial helpful!
