Learn how to remove distracting objects directly in Adobe Premiere 2026 without After Effects. In this 2-minute tutorial I'll show you the opacity mask technique I used on a real client drone shoot — plus the one step most people miss that keeps the mask from working. To start, duplicate your clip. Then, draw a mask on the top layer using an opacity mask. You'll need to make sure this mask is assigned to opacity in order for it to work. Then, under the Motion controls, move the position of the mask to cover up the unwanted object. Use the mask expansion and feather to refine your selection.
Note: this technique works best on static shots with consistent surrounding areas. For moving camera shots, After Effects Content-Aware Fill is still the better tool.
If you've used this technique on your own footage, drop a comment below — especially if you've found a way to make it work on shots with more complex backgrounds.
